Safety is built into how drivers are approved, how vehicles are certified, and how every single trip starts, is tracked and is settled — not bolted on afterwards.
Rider safety
Not extras you have to switch on, and not promises. These are the checks and controls the Sonik Drive platform runs on — from the moment you book to the moment the fare settles.
Every trip starts with a code. You read it to your driver, they enter it to begin the ride — so you always get in the right car, and nobody else can take your trip by mistake.
One discreet tap alerts our safety team with your live location mid-trip, so help can be dispatched and the ride followed up immediately.
Nobody drives on the platform until they have cleared a background check, a licensing review, and our dedicated safety training programme.
Every electric vehicle in the fleet is certified to Federal Road Safety Corps standards before it carries a single passenger, and is maintained on schedule.
Your route is tracked in real time from pickup to drop-off and recorded, so the full journey can be replayed if a trip or fare is ever questioned.
Message your driver inside the app about pickup details — no need to exchange phone numbers with anyone.
Riders and drivers rate each other after every journey. Ratings and feedback are tied to the trip, so standards stay high and problems are easy to trace.
Driver safety
A safe platform only works if it runs both ways. The same vetting, training and trip record that reassure a rider are what stand behind a Sonik driver when something goes wrong.
Every driver passes a background check and a licensing review before they are approved. The standard is the same for everyone, so the person driving the next Sonik vehicle has been through exactly what you have.
Approved drivers complete a dedicated safety training programme — including how to operate and charge an electric vehicle — before they carry their first passenger.
You are assigned a certified electric vehicle from the Sonik fleet. It is certified to Federal Road Safety Corps standards before it joins, and stays on scheduled maintenance while it is on the road.
Routes are tracked live and recorded, and riders and drivers rate each other after every journey. If a fare or a trip is ever questioned, there is a record of what actually happened — not one person's word against another's.
Fares settle in the app — 85% straight to the driver, 15% to the platform — so Sonik drivers never carry a day's takings. There is no change to make, no cash to argue over, and nothing in the vehicle worth taking.
The fleet
Sonik Drive owns the fleet, which means the condition of the car you step into is our responsibility rather than an individual driver's. Vehicles are certified to Federal Road Safety Corps standards before they join the fleet — not after they have started carrying passengers — and they stay on a scheduled maintenance programme for as long as they are on the road.
Between trips they return to Sonik's own solar-powered charging stations. Charging on infrastructure we run keeps the fleet on a predictable cycle: a vehicle comes back, charges, is checked, and goes out again — instead of being kept on the road because the next tank has to pay for itself.

In-app reporting and the SOS button go live with the app itself. Until then, safety questions and concerns reach the team directly at sonikdrive001@gmail.com. Sonik Drive is based in Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.
